Demonstrators Demand Sen. Kerry Use Super Committee Post to Fight for Jobs Against Wars
BOSTON/Government Center - 40 people attended a demonstration at Sen. John Kerry's (D-MA) Boston office on Tuesday to demand that the deficit-busting "Super Committee" - jointly selected by House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate Majority Leader Harry A. Reid (D-NV) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) - focus on restoring the economy by creating jobs and ending the wars, not making more cuts to vital programs. The event was organized by the MoveOn.org Boston Council, Mass. Peace Action, and the 25% Coalition. Members of Veterans for Peace, Jobs with justice, and local supporters of Rep. Ron Paul's (R- Texas) campaign for President were also in attendance. After a few speeches and some conversation, the demonstrators dispersed. There was no police presence.
