LOCAL EDITION #13 - Special Audio Newscast On Climate Change Activism
For the thirteenth episode in our audio newscast collaboration with WMBR Radio in Cambridge, we feature a conversation with MIT Ph.D. student Geoffrey Supran, a leader of Fossil Free MIT, an organization of students, faculty, and staff calling for the Institute to divest its financial holdings in the fossil fuel industry.
As part of a weekend long Sustainability Summit at MIT, Fossil Free volunteers surrounded the campus with four miles of bright blue warning tape, an action demonstrating how high flood waters would reach in the event of a massive weather event similar to Super-storm Sandy. Climate change and its consequences is a major issue for many student activists, who are leading an effort to convince state officials to halt all new construction of fossil fuel burning power plants.
