Small Rescues and Shelters are Not Underdogs at Fenway Bark

Jane Fulton, owner of Fenway Bark, has always had a soft spot for animals and has rescued eight animals, making them a part of her family throughout her life, and encourages others to do the same.

“Although I know there is no science behind it, I truly believe that my dogs understand that they were given a second chance,” says Fulton.

It was her passion for animals that collided with her love for travel and a hectic business travel schedule that inspired the creation of Fenway Bark, a one stop shop for the thoughtful, busy pet owner.

“When I wanted to plan a trip the $10,000 question was always ‘How will we find reliable, vetted care for the dogs?’ and I began to think I can’t be the only person with this problem”. There were no facilities that met Jane’s standards and she found out that a lot of her business colleagues faced the same problem.

“Fenway Bark started out a high quality dog hotel and daycare and evolved into something much more as we investigated the substantial pet care needs in the Boston area plus reflecting on our own challenges in finding care for our pets during the most difficult of times such as surgery recovery, short notice travel emergencies, and an illness in the family. What Fenway Bark is today is a one stop facility for hotel, daycare, grooming, training, retail, and more,” said Fulton.

One of the “more” components to Fenway Bark is a strong commitment to the community and raising the conversation and standards about care and rescue animal placement. Before officially opening, Fenway Bark’s team has already completed one charity event for Fairy Dog Parents in December that appeared on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and will be having an adoption event on February 12, 2011 from 3 – 7 pm called Puppy Love.

“Puppy Love is an event that allows small rescues and shelters with big hearts but small marketing and PR budgets to be able to secure a venue for free which gives them more visibility and more importantly, helps them achieve their mission of placing dogs and cats that are up for adoption in forever homes. The event is in line with our business values and our passion for animal care. The event will be successful if we are instrumental in matching dogs and cats with their new homes.”

Not only will Puppy Love have adoption opportunities for families seeking to expand their brood but it will also be a fun venue for people who simply support adoption of homeless dogs and cats with fun activities including a raffle prizes, food, music, and samples of products provided by Fenway Bark’s business partners.

“The legions of pet product manufacturers and local businesses that have come together to support this event is very heartwarming. We are so touched by those who are giving so generously to ensure we have a successful event.” Fulton went on to say that some of the raffle prizes include donations by Bissell, Huneck galleries, and Doody Calls.

South Boston Animal Hospital’s Dr. Natalie Waggener has offered to discount wellness checks and vaccines for all animals adopted at the event.
