BOSTON/South Boston - Members of the Internet collective known as Anonymous took to the streets of Boston yesterday in memory of fellow activist Aaron Swartz, who took his own life earlier this month, and to protest the criminal prosecution that they believe contributed to this death.

But despite the sinister grins of their characteristic Guy Fawkes masks, the protest had a much more somber tone than many of Anonymous’ previous public actions.

Cambridge, Mass. - Last Thursday, as Palestinian leadership pushed for recognition of an independent state at the United Nations, over 50 people attended a Harvard Square demonstration in support of that ongoing effort.

BOSTON/Roxbury - On October 22nd, a video surfaced showing 12 police officers kicking and punching a presumably 16-year-old African American male on the Roxbury Community College campus in Boston, MA. Community members respond with outrage and organizing protests calling for reform and accountability. Press Pass TV was on the scene at one of the first protest rallies in response to the incident.

Cambridge, MA - Outraged at the June 7 decision by an Indian local court to convict 7 former officials of Union Carbide of India Limited of criminal negligence in the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy rather than prosecute them on more serious charges for their roles in the deaths of thousands of residents of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, India, over 30 local advocates held a protest in Harvard Square on Thursday. The advocates also expressed anger that former Union Carbide Corp. CEO Warren Anderson remains free despite having a standing warrant out for his arrest in India to this day.
