The only groups that we demand a strict adherence to nonviolence from are the marginalized and their advocates. We call their grievances ‘ideologies’ as a means of crushing any discursive avenues by which they can be addressed. And then, when what are sometimes the worst elements of their own society finally turn their isolation into violence, we call it terrorism.

These days it seems as though every politician in Washington is talking about “budget deficits” and what cuts they want us to accept. However, when voters had the opportunity to submit questions at the second Presidential debate, not a single person brought up the deficit. People were concerned about jobs, not budget cuts.

On Election Day November 6 voters in Massachusetts have a chance to weigh in for themselves.

On August 5, six people were killed by a gunman in Wisconsin in a Gurdwara and a police officer was seriously wounded. On August 6, a Mosque was burned down in Joplin, Missouri. People all across the country have condemned these acts and have come together in solidarity and unity. In last few years attacks on Muslims, Sikhs and others have escalated.

A climate of anxiety, fear and suspicion has been created in which sections of society have been declared threat to the security and well being of the nation and humanity and passions are being incited.
