BOSTON – A peaceful but determined group of approximately one thousand marchers took to the streets of Boston on Martin Luther King Day to call for an end to police brutality, a redirection of public funds from prisons to schools, and a living wage for all workers, among other demands.
Noting that demonstrators were all wearing hats, gloves and heavy coats, and emphasizing the importance of remembering history, organizer Brock Satter referred to the new anti-racism movement as “freedom winter.”
BOSTON - Thursday, January 15th – the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.’s actual birthday - certainly was a day of contrasting styles and strategies around civil disobedience. Early in the morning, scores of activists essentially risked their lives to block rush hour traffic on Route 93 in order to protest brutality by police against people of color. In the afternoon, organizers announced plans for a march through the streets of downtown Boston during the Martin Luther King Day holiday.
BOSTON - Over one thousand demonstrators gathered in front of the Boston Police Department Area B2 station in Dudley Square on Tuesday evening to protest the failure of a St. Louis County grand jury to indict Officer Darren Wilson of the Ferguson, MS police department for the murder of Michael Brown, an unarmed Ferguson teenager, on August 9, 2014.
BOSTON/South End - They stood at the windows, some holding onto the bars that kept them in, others waving their hands or banging open palms against the glass. One made a heart shape with his hands. One held up a sign thanking the crowd across the street for their support.
BOSTON/Back Bay - On Saturday, October 25th, hundreds of Boston activists marched along Newbury Street as part of a "Newbury Street Shutdown" action in solidarity with Ferguson and the Black Lives Matter Week of Action. The goal of the event, according to its Facebook page, was "to ensure that no one in our city can continue to ignore the crisis of racial profiling and police violence against Black and Brown people in Boston, Ferguson, and across the country."

“The goal of this event is to let everyone know what is happening in Hong Kong. We know things may not change overnight, but we want everyone to know we are desperate for a fair legislative system, “ said Ka Leung, a Hong Kong native currently living in Boston.

BOSTON/Copley Square – Following the Israeli assault on the Palestinian territories that began last month, pro-Palestinian activists picketed on the sidewalk between Copley Sq. and Boston Public Library on Saturday.
