Everett, Mass – An Everett woman is suing the Everett Police Department and the Cataldo Ambulance Service, alleging that excessive force was used during her arrest in March last year, and that she did not receive adequate medical attention.
Jeraldine Fountain filed the lawsuit in federal court in Boston earlier this month against Everett Police Officer Michael Sabella, and the ambulance service based in Somerville.
Brockton, Mass. - A Brockton man is suing that city and several members of its police department after he was allegedly assaulted and wrongfully arrested during a traffic stop in 2012.
Ben Silveus filed the lawsuit in federal court in Boston at the end of March against Sgt. Mark Celia, and Officers William Schlieman and Eric Burke, for what he claims were violations of his rights under both state and federal statutes.

BOSTON/South Boston – For the fourth consecutive year, an alternative St. Patrick’s Peace Parade was held in South Boston amidst continued controversy over the banning of certain groups from the main parade by its organizers.
The Allied War Veterans Council (AWVC), which is based in South Boston and has organized the event since the 40s, has upheld its ban on a veterans’ peace group and LGBT groups, despite mounting pressure to make the parade more inclusive.
BOSTON/South End - A former associate dean at the Boston University School of Medicine alleges that the university violated laws against sex discrimination.
Dr. Phyllis Carr filed the lawsuit in federal court in Boston against the university alleging that the Equal Pay Act was broken when she was paid less than a male colleague for the same work.
The court complaint alleges that Carr “was paid significantly less than a male employee performing substantially equal work.”
BOSTON – A Boston man is suing Boston Police Department officers, alleging excessive force and malicious prosecution following his arrest in January last year.
Joseph Johnson filed the lawsuit in federal court in Boston in December against Officer Charbonnier (first name and current domicile is unknown to plaintiff), Robert England, and Sgt. Clark (first name and current domicile is unknown to plaintiff), after police allegedly “tackled him to the ground causing his head…to hit a brick wall.”
Springfield, Mass. – A man who had a conviction for murder overturned in a retrial last year is suing two Springfield Police Department detectives for allegedly using coercion to produce witness testimony against him in court.
Charles Wilhite was convicted in 2010 of murdering Alberto Rodriguez in a shooting in Springfield in 2008, spending over three years in prison before a jury found him not guilty during a retrial in January last year.
